A five-day intensive course investigating connection through flameworked glass sculpture.
Working in
clear borosilicate glass, this class will teach the basics of solid and blown sculptural work, and advance quickly to achieve
the goals of students. Using both the bench burner and hand torch we will make multiple components for glass sculpture. There
will be daily demonstrations, assignments, individual tuition, with loads of time on the torch, and evening activities to
inspire the day ahead.
This course aims to make art that connects with and involves others in any legal
fashion whilst developing ideas and methods of increasing scale within flameworked glass sculpture. Bring your ideas, a sketchbook,
slides, usb sticks or photographs of your previous work (that doesn't have to be glass), an interest in contemporary art,
all natural fibre clothing, sunscreen, and any flameworking tools, bonsai shears, didymium glasses etc. that you already have.
Students will leave with finished work. All levels.
