Introduction
to Basic Lampworking & Glassblowing Techniques and Working with Borosilicate Glass – Steve Ramsey
The course will benefit
both newcomers and semi skilled lampworkers, many of you would have experienced working with solid glass rods at the lamp
whilst learning the art of beadmaking. The purpose of this weekend is to introduce you to basic techniques
that I was taught as an apprentice Scientific glassblower. Whether you want to make artistic glassware,
hollow beads or even scientific instruments, the basic techniques are the same. We will also have the opportunity
to sample some of the wonderful borosilicate colours on offer from Plowden & Thompson and incorporate them in both blown
pieces and solid forms and shapes. Please come and join me at Barbara and Richard’s beautiful historic
building in the heart of the glassmakers’ town of Stourbridge. I look forward to you joining me in the “World
of Glass”.
Cost £300 but we do have a bursary for the first 4 applicants making the course available
at £210 inclusive of Vat, all materials etc.
